The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force , Benjamin Hundeyin, has responded publicly after influencer Papaya Ex accused a Lagos police officer of assault.

Reacting to the allegation, Benjamin Hundeyin of the Lagos State Police Command provided the police account of what transpired before the influencer went live on social media.
According to his statement:
- Around 2 a.m., officers on night patrol stopped a vehicle carrying three men and two women for a routine search.
- Papaya Ex allegedly refused to allow officers to search the vehicle.
- She reportedly stated, “You cannot search my car. Don’t you know Papaya? Even your bosses know me.”
- She then chose to proceed to the police station instead of complying on the spot.
Hundeyin added that an officer entered her vehicle after initial resistance, while a patrol van followed behind. However, he claimed she instructed her driver to speed off, prompting officers to radio another patrol unit ahead to intercept the vehicle.
He concluded that the Lagos State Police Command would continue handling the matter.
