President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to defeating terrorism and strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic relationships with international partners.

Speaking at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held on Thursday at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu said his government remains focused on restoring peace and unity across the nation while driving economic growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose, guided by the Renewed Hope agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,”

— President Tinubu stated before the closed-door session began.

🇳🇬 First FEC Meeting Since July

Thursday’s gathering marked the first Federal Executive Council meeting since July, with the President commending his cabinet members for their dedication and urging them to remain focused on policy implementation and reform delivery.

He emphasized the need for collective unity and accountability, noting that every ministry must align with the government’s broader national development goals.

🌍 Tinubu Reacts to U.S. “Country of Concern” Designation

Tinubu’s statement came just days after former U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” citing alleged religious persecution and security challenges — a label the Nigerian government has strongly rejected as a misrepresentation of reality.

In his response, Tinubu said Nigeria remains open to constructive international partnerships that promote peace, stability, and growth.

“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3bn Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy,” he said.

💪 Pledge to Strengthen Security and Economy

The President reiterated that his administration will not relent in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. He assured Nigerians that his government’s security architecture is being continually strengthened to ensure national stability.

Tinubu added that the Renewed Hope Agenda remains the blueprint for achieving long-term prosperity through reforms in security, infrastructure, and foreign investment.
