Popular social media activist VeryDarkMan has weighed in on the growing controversy surrounding Mirabel, the TikTok user who recently admitted that her earlier assault claims were fabricated.
The activist addressed the issue in a video now circulating widely online, responding directly to calls by Nigerians for Mirabel’s arrest and prosecution.
“No Named Person, No False Accusation”
According to VeryDarkMan, Mirabel cannot legally be charged with false accusation because she never mentioned or identified any specific individual as her attacker.
He explained that under Nigerian law, a false accusation case can only stand if there is a clearly identifiable person who was wrongly accused.
“For false accusation to apply, there must be someone who was accused,” he said. “If the police ask, ‘Who did she accuse?’ and nobody can be produced, the case collapses.”
VeryDarkMan stressed that Mirabel’s story, though false, did not point fingers at any named person, making it legally different from accusing someone of a crime they did not commit.
Possible Offence: Spreading False Information
While dismissing the idea of false accusation, the activist noted that Mirabel may still face legal consequences under a different offence.
He said authorities could investigate the matter as spreading false information, explaining that the fabricated story caused panic, emotional distress, and public outrage.
“What she did disturbed a lot of people. It created fear and confusion. That’s where the issue is,” he stated.
According to him, spreading false information could attract a fine or a prison sentence of up to seven years, depending on how the law is applied and the context of the case.
Admission of Fabrication
VeryDarkMan confirmed that Mirabel personally admitted to him that key parts of her story were untrue, including screenshots of chats she had posted online, which she allegedly fabricated.
He added that while many people are angry and demanding her arrest, emotions should not override legal realities.
“She didn’t accuse anybody. So let’s be guided by the law, not sentiment,” he said.
Public Debate Continues
The Mirabel saga has continued to divide opinion online, reopening debates around false narratives, online accountability, and the impact of viral misinformation.
As Nigerians await an official position from law enforcement, the case remains a reminder of how quickly unverified stories can spread—and the serious consequences they can carry, even when no individual is directly accused.
More updates are expected as authorities review the matter.
I see how everyone is saying Mirabel should be arrested for false accusation. Mirabel cannot be arrested for false accusation because for it to be a false accusation, there has to be someone who was actually accused. She didn’t accuse anybody.
