Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Muyiwa Ademola has explained why he was absent from the burial of his cousin, late actress Allwell Ademola, which took place in Lagos.
The Yoruba film star addressed the issue in an emotional post shared on his social media page shortly after the burial ceremony, following questions from fans who noticed his absence.
Allwell Ademola Buried in Lagos
Allwell Ademola was laid to rest in Lagos between Thursday, January 8, and Friday, January 9, at a cemetery in the Yaba area of the state.
The burial attracted several notable figures from the Yoruba movie industry, who came together to pay their final respects to the late actress.
Despite the large industry turnout, Muyiwa Ademola was noticeably missing from the ceremony.
Reason for Muyiwa Ademola’s Absence
Explaining his absence, the actor revealed that he was outside the country at the time of the burial and was unable to return in time to attend the final rites.
According to him, the situation was deeply painful, as he would have loved to be physically present to honour his cousin’s memory.
Actor Shares Emotional Tribute
In his heartfelt message, Muyiwa Ademola reflected on the fragility of life and described Allwell Ademola’s death as a painful reminder that life is unpredictable.
He also asked his late cousin to convey his greetings to departed family members, including his father and uncle, while praying for long life for those still alive.
In part, he wrote that missing her burial was one of the saddest moments for him, adding that every new day is a gift and a reminder to live purposefully.
The tribute has since drawn emotional reactions from fans and colleagues, many of whom offered words of comfort and prayers to the Ademola family.
