Fresh tension has gripped Isapa community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State after armed bandits launched a violent attack on Monday evening, abducting 11 residents in a shocking raid.

Gunmen Storm Community at Dusk

The attack occurred around 6 pm when between 20 and 30 heavily armed attackers reportedly stormed the town while moving with a large herd of cattle.

Residents said the gunmen fired multiple shots into the air, forcing people to flee into nearby bushes and compounds for safety. An elderly woman was hit by a stray bullet during the chaos.

Several homes were left vandalized, with bullet holes visible on walls and shattered doors scattered across the community. Spent ammunition shells were also recovered at different locations after the gunmen retreated.

11 Residents Kidnapped, Including Members of Same Family

Community leaders confirmed that 11 people were abducted, including seven members of a single household.

The victims were identified as:

  • Talatu Kabiru
  • Magaji
  • Kande
  • Hadiza
  • Mariam
  • Saima
  • Habibat
  • Fatima Yusufu
  • Sarah Sunday
  • Lami Fidelis
  • Haja Na Allah

Among those taken are a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several children.

Sources said the attackers overwhelmed the community within minutes and led the captives into the forest before security agents could respond.

Attack Comes Days After Eruku Church Incident

This latest invasion comes barely a week after gunmen attacked the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.

Those victims were released to the Kwara State Government on Sunday, but residents fear the renewed attack in Isapa signals an escalation of insecurity across the area.

Residents Express Fear as Insecurity Intensifies

Locals say they now live in constant fear, calling for urgent government intervention and stronger security presence to protect vulnerable communities across Ekiti LGA.
