Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson has finally secured the release of controversial TikToker Eedie Bliss, ending days of intense backlash and online outrage.
Eedie Bliss regained her freedom on Saturday, January 17, 2026, after Mercy Johnson withdrew all charges against her, a move that came shortly after sustained pressure from social media users and activists.
Public Outcry Forces a Turnaround
The situation escalated rapidly after outspoken social media critic VeryDarkMan publicly called out the actress, accusing her of oppression and abuse of power.
VDM argued that defamation is a civil matter, not a criminal one, and condemned the continued detention of the TikToker. He also issued a public ultimatum, demanding Eedie Bliss’ immediate release.
VDM Confirms Release
Just hours later, VeryDarkMan announced that Eedie Bliss had been released.
He wrote on Instagram:
“@MercyJohnsonOkojie, thank you very much, my GREATEST OF ALL TIME, for dropping the case. Moving on, I am buying all defamation cases against Mercy Johnson and her family. The bullying is too much. You all should leave her family alone.”
His post quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions across social media.
Why Was Eedie Bliss Arrested?
According to reports, Eedie Bliss was arrested days earlier over a TikTok video shared in December 2025 involving Mercy Johnson and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie.
In the video, Eedie Bliss alleged that:
- Prince Okojie bought a house for a pregnant mistress
- Mercy Johnson allegedly connived with the mistress’ house help, leading to a miscarriage
She reportedly cited popular gossip source Cutie Juls as the origin of the claims.
Social Media Reacts
While some Nigerians praised Mercy Johnson for stepping back and allowing the TikToker regain freedom, others questioned why the case escalated to arrest in the first place.
Many also hailed VeryDarkMan’s intervention as a win for free speech, while others warned against the spread of unverified allegations online.
