Popular social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has triggered massive outrage online after blasting the Ekiti State Government over what he described as a heartless and disgraceful allocation to healthcare in the state’s 2026 budget.

In a viral video currently circulating across social media platforms, VDM angrily accused the Ekiti State Governor and members of the House of Assembly of prioritising personal comfort over the lives of ordinary citizens, warning that divine punishment awaits them for what he called wicked governance.

VDM Slams Ekiti’s ₦68m Healthcare Allocation

“God will punish you. Not just you, but every member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly. When you don’t fear God, you will enjoy His punishment,” VDM declared.

According to the activist, Ekiti State reportedly presented a proposed ₦415.5 billion budget for 2026, yet allocated just ₦68 million to primary healthcare across the entire state.

VDM questioned how such a meagre amount could adequately serve the state’s population, noting that the 2006 population census placed Ekiti’s population at about 2.3 million, with the figure expected to be significantly higher today.

Governor, Lawmakers Under Fire Over Budget Priorities

“Even if we don’t exaggerate, let’s say Ekiti now has over twenty million people — elderly people, pregnant women, children — and you budget ₦68 million for primary healthcare?” he asked.

VDM further alleged that only ₦1.6 million was allocated for drugs, laboratory services and medical supplies, while lawmakers allegedly approved much larger sums for their personal welfare.

He listed several controversial budget items, including:

  • ₦618 million for honoraria and sitting allowances
  • ₦150 million for maintenance of office furniture
  • ₦24 million for refreshments and meals
  • Over ₦100 million for office equipment purchases

“You people budget more money for food, furniture and sitting down than for hospitals. God will punish you,” he repeated.

The activist also criticised what he described as duplicated and unclear budget entries, questioning why the government would propose spending hundreds of millions on new equipment while simultaneously budgeting for maintenance of existing ones.

VDM lamented that while government officials and their families seek medical care abroad or in private hospitals, rural dwellers are left to depend on poorly funded primary health centres.

The explosive video has since sparked intense debate online, with many Nigerians calling for greater transparency and accountability in public spending.
