The Borno State Police Command has released N20,137,770.34 to nine beneficiaries under its Group Life Insurance Scheme, supporting families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The funds were handed over to next-of-kin during a cheque presentation ceremony aimed at assisting with education, healthcare, and general welfare, according to the command’s spokesperson, Nahum Daso.

Police Leadership Emphasizes Officer Welfare

Deputy Commissioner of Police for Finance and Administration, Ibrahim Sumaila, represented the state Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, at the event. He conveyed a message from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, highlighting that the welfare of officers and their families remains a top priority for the Force.

DCP Sumaila described the Group Life Insurance Scheme as a reflection of the IGP’s commitment to supporting officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for national peace and security, urging beneficiaries to use the funds wisely.

Gratitude from Recipients

On behalf of the recipients, Mr. Modu Ishaku thanked the Inspector-General for the gesture, assuring that the funds would be utilized prudently.

This latest payout follows a similar disbursement in January 2026, when about N18.38 million was released to nine other families of fallen officers. The Group Life Assurance Scheme remains a critical initiative to provide financial support to police officers’ families across Nigeria.
