Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has dismissed allegations circulating on social media that he refused to pay a woman for a completed job after she allegedly rejected his sexual advances.

The claims, which have gained traction online in recent days, allege that the former Ebonyi State governor owes a woman identified as Ohiri ₦200 million for promotional materials reportedly supplied during his 2014 governorship campaign.

Speaking in a video that has since gone viral, Umahi denied owing anyone money and described the allegations as baseless and driven by social media attention.

He insisted that no such debt exists and questioned the credibility of the accusation, suggesting that it was being amplified purely for online engagement.

“If it’s Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan that said I was chasing her, my face would be bolder,” Umahi said. “Not just anybody accusing this handsome man of chasing her for 12 years.”

The minister further downplayed the controversy, urging Nigerians to focus on more pressing national and global concerns rather than social media disputes.

“It’s just for social media,” he added. “I think we should turn our attention to the war in Iran and allow Umahi to rest.”
