The family of LGBT influencer Rolling Ray—real name Raymond (Juan Raymond) Harper—has confirmed his passing at age 28, just days before what would have been his 29th birthday. The death was officially logged by Maryland’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on September 3, 2025, while his mother also shared the sad news via Facebook  .

Ray gained internet fame through his bold and candid persona, becoming a familiar face on social and reality TV platforms. He coined the iconic slang term “purr”, which quickly spread across Instagram, TikTok, and beyond  . His TV credits include appearances on MTV’s Catfish: Trolls, Divorce Court, and multiple productions on Zeus Network, such as Bobby I Love You, Purrr  .

Ray battled significant health issues over the years, including severe burns from a 2021 fire, COVID-19, recurrent pneumonia, and a serious blood infection in August 2024  . Despite these challenges, he remained vibrant and connected with his audience through his humor, authenticity, and advocacy.

Zeus Network paid tribute to Ray, calling him “big-hearted,” “raw & real,” and affirming that his “laughter, light & loving spirit will live on forever”  . Fans and friends—including public figures—have taken to social media to express their grief and celebrate his unique impact
