A young Nigerian mother has gone viral on social media after sharing her candid experience navigating the challenges of first-time motherhood while working a demanding job.
The woman, identified on X as @janetfunmion, recounted how a particularly stressful day at work left her rushing home to nurse her five-month-old son, only to find her plans thwarted.
The Challenge of Balancing Work and Motherhood
In her post, she explained that she had instructed the family’s nanny not to feed the baby shortly before her arrival, hoping he would be hungry and ready to breastfeed. However, upon getting home, she discovered that the baby had already been fed Cerelac and refused to latch.
The incident reportedly caused her severe discomfort due to breast engorgement, accompanied by feverish symptoms.
Husband Steps In
In an unexpected turn, her husband offered to help relieve the discomfort. Though initially hesitant, he eventually assisted and, according to her humorous account, even expressed surprise at the experience. She described the moment as providing “immense relief” after a long and stressful day.
Sharing the story online, she wrote:
“Being a young banker and a new mum is a stage that nobody prepares you for… My son just looked at me, completely unbothered, refusing to latch… Within minutes, the engorgement turned into a full blown fever… My husband saw the struggle and stepped up… The relief that washed over the body was unmatched. Praise the Lord.”
Her story has resonated with many working mothers, sparking reactions ranging from laughter to empathy as followers praised her honesty and shared similar experiences.
