The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has reportedly presented himself to the police following a series of allegations currently under investigation by law enforcement authorities.
Pastor Reports to Police After Missed Invitation
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that Pastor Okafor voluntarily reported to the police after initially failing to honour a scheduled invitation.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, the cleric was invited by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, on Sunday and was expected to appear on Monday.
However, when he failed to show up as agreed through his legal representatives, the police directed that he be arrested. The pastor later appeared at the police station the following day.
Speaking in an interview with TVC, the commissioner said:
“When he was invited, he got to us through his lawyer that he would be appearing on Monday. We waited for him, but he didn’t come. I then directed that he should be arrested. Subsequently, he showed up.”
Case Moved to Police Zone 2
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the matter has now been transferred to Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Headquarters for further investigation.
CP Jimoh explained that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, had already opened a parallel investigation into the matter.
“I later verified that the same matter had been opened at the Zone 2 headquarters. The AIG informed me that investigations had been ongoing under his command for about three weeks,” Jimoh said.
Police React to Public Complaints
The police commissioner also addressed public concerns, noting that social media reports now play a significant role in drawing attention to alleged misconduct.
He stressed that the police no longer wait solely for formal petitions before acting, especially where public interest and safety are concerned.
“Social media has become a veritable platform for people to lodge complaints. If we fail to act promptly, such situations could escalate and lead to a breakdown of law and order,” he stated.
Background
The controversy surrounding Pastor Okafor gained traction in mid-December 2025 after multiple allegations surfaced online. Police authorities have maintained that investigations are ongoing and that all parties involved will be given the opportunity to present their accounts in line with due process.
As of the time of filing this report, no formal charges have been announced, and the police say further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
