The Federal High Court in Abuja has declared the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, an international terrorist and an anarchy-minded individual.

Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice James Omotosho ruled that Kanu extended his alleged terrorism activities beyond Nigeria through several incendiary broadcasts. The court noted that Kanu allegedly ordered attacks on the United States Embassy, directing that it should be “brought down” in one of his broadcasts.

Justice Omotosho also referenced another broadcast in which Kanu allegedly instructed his followers to destroy the British High Commission and kill its officials. According to the court, these utterances, actions, and unlawful directives amount to international terrorism.

The judge further convicted Kanu for belonging to a proscribed organization, inciting violence, and issuing unlawful orders capable of causing widespread chaos.

Justice Omotosho described Kanu as “a wilful and anarchy-minded individual” whose actions were intended to destabilize both Nigeria and the international community.
