The Nigerian sports community has been thrown into shock after reports emerged that footballer Ihotu John Rebecca was kidnapped, with abductors allegedly demanding a ransom of ₦20 million for her release.

Rebecca, who plays for Pacesetter Queens FC in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, was reportedly taken along the Benin Expressway while traveling home.

According to eyewitness reports, unidentified gunmen intercepted the vehicle carrying Rebecca, forcibly taking her to an undisclosed location. Sources indicate that the kidnappers have already contacted her family, demanding ₦20 million as ransom for her release.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident, and details surrounding the exact circumstances remain unclear.
