Popular TikToker and Content creator, Habeeb Hamzat, well known as Peller, has reacted to Tiktok’s decision to temporarily restrict night-time livestreaming in Nigeria, saying the update will not affect his livelihood.

TikTok announced the restriction through an in-app notification sent to eligible Nigerian users on Sunday at midnight.

The restriction prevents users from hosting or watching livestreams during late hours. Reports suggest the move follows concerns about explicit content on the platform and TikTok’s attempt to strengthen safety measures during its review.

Reacting in a video shared on Monday, Peller dismissed claims that the update would leave him financially stranded.

He said: “People are expecting me to be crying after TikTok banned live in Nigeria, thinking I’ll go hungry. I’m an ambassador to numerous brands, and none of my endorsements is less than N40 million.”

He stressed that his income goes beyond Tiktok gifts, noting that most creators routinely give back to fans through giveaways. Peller also highlighted TikTok’s role in helping young people grow quickly online, saying: “Many people will grow on TikTok. You can’t grow on Instagram the same way. Before you make it there, you will post plenty… TikTok is easier to grow on.”

He added that those celebrating the restriction may not understand how vital the night -time Live window is for small creators who depend on it for visibility and income.

The temporary ban has sparked conversations among Nigerian creators, with many waiting to see how long the review will last and whether TikTok will restore full LIVE access soon.
