Football star, Kylian Mbappe will undergo additional medical evaluations on his injured knee, though surgery is not being considered at this time.
The Real Madrid forward has been struggling with an external ligament issue in his left knee since late 2025. The 27-year-old was sidelined for last week’s UEFA Champions League play-off second leg against SL Benfica and has now travelled to Paris for further examinations.
Mbappé also missed Madrid’s La Liga clash with Getafe CF, while his participation in next week’s Champions League Round of 16 showdown against Manchester City remains uncertain.
In a statement, his representatives confirmed he is in Paris alongside members of the club’s medical team.
“In agreement with the club, he is undergoing further tests on his knee with the aim of optimising his follow-up care and preparing for his comeback,” the statement said, adding that “no surgical intervention is being planned at the moment.”
Head coach Alvaro Arbeloa previously indicated that the decision to allow Mbappé extended recovery time was mutually agreed upon.
“It was a bit of a consensus between everyone and we think the best thing is that he stops, that he recovers and comes back at 100%,” Arbeloa said. “It’s not going to be a question of days, it will be a bit longer, but I can’t say how long. Hopefully not too long.”
Mbappé joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in June 2024 after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired. He has enjoyed a prolific campaign, scoring 38 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions this season.
